We’re 73% of the way through this (203 days)… just 11 weeks (77 days) to go!
The Baby:
*He’s growing eyelashes, adding fat, developing his brain and maybe even dreaming
*His brain can control his body temperature
*His eyes can move in his sockets
*He has grown 1/4 pound in the last week and now starts a rapid growth phase (oh yay), putting on nearly 1/2 pound a week!! Tripling in weight by the time he’s due!!
*15.2 inches long, weighing 2.5 pounds
*Amniotic fluid is reaching its peak, partly due to the fact that he is urinating up to 2 cups a day
*Survival rate = 90%. Of those surviving, 30% will have serious complications
The Mom:
*Heartburn: YES.
*Constipation and hemorrhoids: no (knock on wood).
*“Supine Hypotensive Syndrome”: a change of heart rate and feeling dizzy when laying flat on your back – affects some pregnant women. I’ve had this since nearly the start of pregnancy!
*Fatigue: I love sleeping, but I hate being tired. I’ve been falling asleep between 9 and 10pm now, but could probably pass out at 6pm if I didn’t have so much to do!
*Kicking: I feel like he’s kicking less, but I’ve been told not to worry if you drink a large glass of water, lay on your side, and he moves at least 4 times in one hour. He surely does that, at least.
Still no luck on another ultrasound. For those of you who haven’t heard yet… I’ve only had one, when we found out he was a boy. We were only given 3 pictures, each one is of just his head. At my next visit, I asked for all the other pictures they took– the ones of his whole body. They said no. “They’re part of the medical record now.” So at my next visit, I asked when my next ultrasound would be, anxious for some pictures of the lil boy. My doctor told me I probably wouldn’t have another one. It’s not needed unless there’s a medical issue and apparently my insurance doesn’t pay “enough” for them. I don’t see how that’s my fault and I really can’t believe my doctor told me that was the reason for not doing an ultrasound.
So a couple weeks later, I called my clinic and asked to set up an appt for an ultrasound. They said no. I told them I wanted one and that I knew my insurance company had already approved it. They still said no. I asked where else I could go to have one done, and they got a snippy attitude, saying “Idon’tknow, I just know we won’t do it here.”
It seems my option now is to drive 1 – 2 hours away to a 3D-4D office and pay $100. That seems ridiculous. And it’s all so annoying. My next appointment is in a week and you better believe I’m bringing it up AGAIN.
Anyyywayyy.… rant over.
The back pain is hideous. The fatigue is annoying. The heartburn is barely tolerable.
But I won: a $100 baby sling, a lil boy diaper cupcake (+ a giveaway coming soon!), $50 for more diaper cakes, and a onesie that says “well bred.”
I’ll write more later about… the apartment we found, our first class at the hospital (awful), and our new project.
Before I go… there’s a NEW app on the iphone called “Pimp My Ultrasound” and it’s free only until Monday. Check out what I made (yes, with the ONLY ULTRASOUND PIC I HAVE, no not bitter at all):

they’re on twitter too: @pimpmyultrasnd

Wow, I can’t believe your doctor’s office is being so heartless about the ultrasound! I know many women only have one or two during their pregnancy, but sheesh! I guess I was lucky. I got two double printouts at my 8-week u/s and a whole bunch when I went for testing just before my 12th week, including 3D copies. I’m hoping for a bunch at my 20-week u/s, coming up in about 3 weeks.
I guess think of it this way: In just 11 weeks (or so), you’ll have a real bundle of joy that you can take pictures of every day. Just think twice before sending one to your doctor’s office – doesn’t sound like they’ve earned it yet!

I feel your pain over the ultrasounds! We were lucky and got half a dozen pictures on a CD, but the tech was struggling to determine the baby’s gender because baby kept moving. We asked the doc if we’d be able to have another one later to make sure (since y’know, you have to shop for clothes and stuff) and he told us insurance won’t pay if it’s not a medical neccessity! All we can do is drive off to the 4D place and pay $100, same as you. It suuuuucks!
Congrats on your baby wins

If you can afford it, do the 3d/4d one. We did at week 34 and have tons of pics and a 50-minute video of the whole session! It cost about $160 for that package, but so worth it. We have better shots of our son’s face than we could ever get on the regular ultrasounds, and the technician spent a lot of time trying to get the good shots, instead of just doing the required measurements and then giving up.

i am frequently jumping around the online world the majority of the night hence I choose to browse a good deal, which isn’t commonly a good thing as almost all of the web sites I view are constructed of unnecessary nonsense copied from other sites a thousand times, on the other hand I gotta say this page is frankly not bad at all and even seems to have some authentic content, for that reason kudos for breaking the fad of just replicating other folks’ websites
