I’ve been ready for this for a month (when we had the early labor scare). Now that I’m just 2 weeks from my due date (and not dilated AT ALL), I’m starting to go crazy. Yesterday I had a hard day – feeling exhausted, depressed (for no reason), and although I have a huge to-do list in my mind, I couldn’t manage to get off my butt and do anything (which made me even more upset). I feel like I have 2 weeks of “life” left and I can’t waste a day! So here’s a list I’ve compiled from other sources (and many of my own)… things to do while waiting for labor:
1. decorate the nursery
2. decorate for Christmas
3. date night(s) with hubby
4. make and freeze meals (ok, we all know I won’t do this ahead of time so instead I’ll remind all my wonderful friends that once baby comes, FOOD is GREATLY appreciated, homemade or delivered 
)
5. watch movies (we get blockbuster movies in the mail, great when you don’t have cable!)
6. EAT like you’ll never eat again, because there’s no better time than when you’re pregnant. Cold Stone Creamery, anyone??
7. Wash, fold and organize baby clothes, sheets and towels. DONE!
8. Put together all baby stuff: crib, playyard, bouncer, swing, activity mat. DONE!
9. Pamper. mani, pedi, massage, etc.
10. Figure out what ONE drink you’ll have after baby is born that is sure to get you wasted (because after 9 months.. goodbye tolerance).
11. Sleep!
12. Make a music mix for labor
13. Make a music mix for baby. DONE! (mainly Raffi and lullabies )
14. Sew some baby onesies
15. Clean. Like scrubbing tile grout with a toothbrush and sweeping behind the fridge.
16. Spend time with the pets
17. Buy an outfit for when you’re sure to lose that pregnancy weight 
18. Write thank-you cards for shower gifts (I’m sooo behind on this!)
19. Make family Christmas stockings (or buy them when you realize you’re too lazy)
20. Get maternity photographs taken
21. Bake cookies
22. Read a book
23. Charge all electronics for hospital: laptop, phones, camera, video camera
24. Pack a hospital bag. DONE!
25. Write a birth plan. DONE!
26. Create a will
27. ENJOY your alone time — go shopping, sit at the bookstore, put your feet up, nap…
28. Make wooden découpage letters to hang on the wall of baby’s room that spell his name. DONE!
29. Practice using your slings and pouches for baby wearing. Use the cats if you’re brave.
30. Watch the entire series of “Friends” DVDs. Then “MacGyver.” (Yes, I do own both.)
Alright… better get working on it! And if I go past my due date, the next list you’ll see will be about ways to induce labor

Actually breastfeeding is better. 1 – you’ll have enough room in your stomach to actually eat, and 2 – you NEED 1000 extra calories a day to sustain the baby! Woohoo for eating whatever you want!

I love these posts. You give me such great ideas for when my time comes! I’m already making lists based off of your ideas. (Thanks, by the way!) It sounds like you have plenty to do to keep you busy…the hard part is always getting motivated to do them! You are making me excited for my maternity leave.…just 4 1/2 months to go!

haha, very true! the hardest part is getting my butt up off the couch to get some of these things done… i should have put that on the list: “spend all day on the couch” so I could feel like I was getting something done, haha

hahaha!! Great list! You haven’t taken maternity photos?! OMG I can’t wait for these! I wanna have a photo shoot like every month, lol! I know i won’t do that though, but for real, get those!
I wanna see the wooden letters!! I’m planning to make some for our baby too. Did you use scrapbook paper and the letters?

I just got maternity pics taken this past Friday! I’ve been wanting them for awhile but everyone said to wait until near the end so that I’d be “full size” — I think we cut it a bit close, lol, but glad we made it! I’ll have the pics in a few weeks to post
I bought $3 wooden letters at Michael’s craft store and cute scrapbook paper. Traced the letters on the paper and cut them out… then I used Mod Podge to stick on the paper. First time I’d ever heard of Mod Podge, but it’s handy! You use it as the glue to stick the paper on AND the sealer to put on top of the paper (it goes on milky white, but dries clear). They look sooo cute! I’ll post pictures soon
