The Triumphant Child book review (& giveaway)

We all know how much I read about pregnancy – I was beyond prepared for that. But reading books about raising your baby? Nope, I skipped those. I thought, “It’s instinct, right?! No one needs to tell me how to raise my kid!” I can admit, I was wrong. It would have absolutely been useful to read parenting books when I was pregnant (when I had more time on my hands!) Sixty Second Parent has joined with a team of leading pediatric specialists to help you make “the leap from pregnancy to parenting.”

I was sent the book, The Triumphant Child: caring for your newborn (how to enjoy the first 60 days as a new mom). “Everything you need to give your baby the best start in life… an essential guide for all new moms.” Obviously I’m past the 1st 60 days of Ryan’s life so I wasn’t sure how useful this book would be to me. Honestly? I flew through it because I couldn’t put it down. Sure, some of it I already knew, but I learned a LOT. And it wasn’t just stuff that applies only to a newborn… there was still a ton in this book that I can utilize with Ryan right now.

CHAPTERS:

It’s a pretty comprehensive book for new babies… and not just for the first 60 days of life (although that is as far as the week-by-week development information goes). Overall: great info, well written, an easy and interesting read. You know it’s good when it won the iParenting Media Award!

*Remember, we’re raising money for this non-profit organization to help them educate and raise awareness on congenital heart defects (CHDs) – the number 1 birth defect (affecting 1 in 100), yet it’s NOT routinely tested for at birth. Get your baby tested! Cora died at 5 days old while breastfeeding in her mama’s arms from an undetected CHD. Ryan was tested, thanks to Cora. Will yours be tested?*
