**WINNER: random.org #42, congrats Heather! Winner has been emailed and has 48 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen. Thanks to all who entered and thanks again to Tiny Bites!**
It’s almost time for Ryan to start solids… ahhh!!! We’re really interested in doing baby-led weaning which means skipping the rice cereals and purees all together and letting Ryan pick up, chew and eat his own REAL food. That’s why I was super excited to receive Tiny Bites food shears for review. These shears can cut food prep time in half and ensure a safe consumption size for your lil one. They’re portable kitchen scissors designed by parents. What’s fun about this? You can cut the food into fun shapes and letters if you want 🙂 I can just see myself making Christmas trees and Valentine’s day hearts and pumpkins, haha.
So why not use a knife? Some foods would be really hard to cut up with a knife. For example – grapes, pasta or green beans! Or tougher foods and having only a plastic knife handy. Well what about using regular scissors? They can leave a metallic taste on the food and who knows if they contain lead or BPA! Okay, what about normal kitchen shears? They’re usually much larger and not as easy to use–plus, they’d be harder to travel with because of their size. Tiny Bites comes in a package with TWO shears so you can leave one at home and throw one in your diaper bag!!
~5.5″ in diameter
~Stainless steel cutlery grade blades are 2.5″ long
~Comes with protective child-proof covers
~Has a comfort cutting spring (yellow lever shown in picture) for food that requires more tension
~Dishwasher safe!
~BPA- and lead-free
~Helps engage picky eaters
~Make fun shapes and letters
~Click here for tips and to see lots of pictures of different foods cut up with Tiny Bites!
I think this is an ingenious invention and I can’t wait until Ryan is eating solids and we get to use these handy little things. I also think it’s wonderful that they thought to put TWO pairs in a package. Things like to go missing with a lil one around (or is it the mommy brain? …..) 🙂
You can buy your own Tiny Bites food shears on their site through paypal for just $9.99! Or WIN here! One lucky reader is going to win their own Tiny Bites!

I’d love to try the Tiny Bites shears for cutting up the dinner we eat as a family, especially my favorite, Italian Swiss Casserole. When Jackson is ready to start solids it will be so fun to expose him to different foods and our family favorites!

What WOULDN’T we use them for is a better question!! We are just starting to introduce some meats (chicken mainly) and these would make it SO much easier to cut those up!! It would also make pizza and any pasta about 10 billion times easier.

OH MY GOODNESS! I LOVE THESE! I have just started my son on solids. I am always worring i am not cutting something to the right size or shape sothat he will be able to chew and swollow it. I KNOW I would use these on everything. If I had to pick one though– I would say pizza. We have pizza every Wed night and that I have not let him try yet simply because I dont know the best wayto cut it! Crazy I know! hbi2010@yahoo.com http://www.livingonloveandcents.blogspot.com Thanks, Heather
