Why I’m a lucky mama!

Now through St. Patty’s Day Redbox is giving you a chance to get free movie credits during the redbox Lucky To Have Friends Like You promotion. You get a unique web address and every time someone uses your link to rent a movie, you get a free movie credit!

I was just talking with some friends about feeling “lucky” and how that’s the perfect word to describe it. Even if you’re having a rough day, a case of the Mondays, or your husband loses his job (yea)–you can stop and think of the things in your life that make you feel lucky. My list…

1. My husband. He’s the current “stay at home mom,” Β is a great daddy to Ryan and the best hubby I could ask for. He is too good to me and I feel extremely lucky to have him! He stays with Ryan while I’m at work and Ryan adores him… he does little things like buying me a chocolate bar at the store while he’s out, filling my car with gas, bringing me ice cream when I don’t even ask πŸ˜‰ He’s my best friend <3

2. Ryan. I have this little person in my life that makes me appreciate every day. I can look at him and tear up because he’s so adorable and perfect and I made him. He’s my lil man, my monster, my stinky butt and my baby. Everything in life now is for him and I couldn’t feel any luckier!

3. My mom. She’s pretty much my best friend (besides Steve). We talk every day and she’s the second person I think of (after Steve…. okay, sometimes she’s the first!) when I have news to share. Everyone says we look alike and we’re basically the same person, haha.

4. My in-laws. How many of you can say you feel lucky about the in-laws you have?! I love Steve’s brothers and sister like they’re my own and Steve’s parents are awesome. We spend a lot of time with them and so does Ryan!

5. My friends. Wherever they are! Meaning… my friends in Rockford, my friends across the country (or in other countries! ;))that have moved away or that I’ve moved away from (miss all of you!) and my friends online. There are mom friends that share poopy diaper and tantrum-throwing-toddler stories with me, c-section friends that cry with me, kidless friends that remind me who I used to be (and still am) and bloggy friends that give me inspiration and advice. I’m extremely lucky for the close friendships and support that I have!

6. My job. I got a phone call pretty much out of the blue offering me this position and it’s a dream job for someone raising a family. I love it!

7. My life! It’s hard to end this with a specific category… I’m lucky for the house we live in, the health of my family, the experiences I’ve had, the education I received, the jobs that I have and the love that I feel <-- totally mushy and corny, I know, but true!

It’s easy to forgot all of that sometimes, but it’s nice to have a reminder once in awhile πŸ™‚ In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, what makes YOU feel lucky?

  • hey Emily, I know you guys have to make sure the money keeps coming in, but all these sponsored posts are really making your content a lot more shallow. I love your more heartfelt posts and day to day posts, thibngs from the heart & home. This is just mush to me, sorry.

I’m glad you like my posts, Ruby. When I feel like sponsored posts don’t add any content to my blog, I usually post them on my Giveaways blog. But I actually chose to put this one here because I liked it. So I’m sorry you didn’t. You’re right, as my husband lost his job, we need the money to keep coming in. This sponsored post was like a writing prompt… if it hadn’t been sponsored, if you hadn’t seen the disclosure, maybe you’d have liked it and told me why YOU feel lucky, too. But I’ll keep your suggestion in mind!

Your blog. Your rules. I know you wouldn;t post something here that you did not feel was relevant. Also the more appropriate venue in which to criticize you would perhaps have been an email? Anyway I liked it and Ryan is a sweet little doll.

Haha good grief. Emily, please survey others before you post anything else so we can tell you if we want it on your blog or not. Thanks! πŸ™‚

  • Why the heck does anyone care what you post? I think it was a fun post to read – not so ‘sponsored’ looking as many do. It was more like a writing prompt. Some people…seriously.
