Pregnancy: week 10

After this week, our baby will officially be a FETUS! It’s just over an inch long and babycenter.com claims it’s the size of a kumquat, but who knows what the crap a kumquat is?! I don’t. Sooo, it’s just bigger than a grape but smaller than an AA battery πŸ˜‰

Passing this week also means the most delicate and critical development time is over. WHOOO! Can I celebrate with some tequila? ……………. kidding……………….

So now it’s time for tissues and organs to grow rapidly. He’s kicking a ton (although I don’t feel it yet) and his kidneys, intestines, brain and liver are starting to function <--that just blows my mind! Of course they're still developing.... but they're there!

He’s getting some peach fuzz on his skin and tiny itty bitty fingernails, awwwwwww.

I really need to go back and look at my pregnancy photos with Ryan–I don’t think I had a belly like this for WEEKS yet. Ah well. Muscles have great memory! I’m still nauseated and it tends to come around the same time each day–in the late morning, around 5-7pm and, if I stay up late enough, it hits me again around 10-11pm. I have discovered a great remedy that I’ll post about soon πŸ˜‰

I’m losing my waist again, but am still living in dresses. What will I do when the warm weather disappears?! lol. I’m still an emotional and moody MESS. Not much else is new. Oh I LOVE the Happy Mama spray from Earth Mama Angel Baby. I spray it on myself, on the couch before I sit, on my bed, on Steve (if I sneak up behind him)…. yummy.

I think I may have found a doula to hire… still working on a midwife. But I do have a prenatal appointment (finally) on August 1st. Since I don’t have a midwife yet, I figured I better get in for an appointment and just make sure we’re all good… I shouldΒ hear the heartbeat at that visit so I’m really excited!

Weight: 110 lb (+3, same as last week)

If you had “morning” sickness, did you ever find anything that helped?

  • When it was really bad Ginger Ale worked. I’m excited to try EMAB tea the next time around.

  • I didn’t have terrible morning sickness, but I was never able to really find anything that helped me with what I did have, either. πŸ™ I just tried to eat lightly in the morning because that’s when it always seemed to hit me.

  • I was sick from 7 weeks until delivery, every single day. Awful! I never found a real trick to help, but I know that it was definitely worse if I ever let my stomach get empty, so eat small snacks constantly. The other thing I did was take zofran every single day. It helped a little with the nausea, but more with the vomitting,

My friend swore by lemons. She would suck on them and said it really helped. I didn’t know her when we were both pregnant, but I definitely plan on trying that next time around.

Hope you find something that works for you!

  • I had morning sickness, I found that crying and whining really helped!

No but seriously, never get hungry. I could always eat chicken noodle soup and drink ginger ale!
