do you have a happy baby story?

Did you know September is Newborn Screening Awareness Month? I’ve talked about newborn screening quite a bit on this blog, thanks to Kristine and Cora that first taught it to me. Newborn screenings save lives and it’s important you know what your baby is screened for at birth–or what theyย should be screened for so you can ask for it, like pulse ox.

There’s a new website called Happy Baby Stories that is collecting your happy baby stories. What an awesome project… their goal is to collect stories and create a mosaic… something to brighten your day and spread the love. For only $1, you can share your happy story and it’s all for a great cause. The money helps Partners of the Heart fund grants to the Save Babies Through Screening Foundation.

I think sometimes we all tend to focus too much on the negative. The bad memories stick with us. I like this project because it focuses on the GOOD. It makes you think of HAPPY stories and then you get to share them with others… smiles are contagious!

I paid my one dollar. I sat and thought of my own happy baby stories. And this is what I came up with (also posted on their site!):

I can’t simply choose one happy baby story. I have TWO babies. Two babies that make me happy every single day. It’s hard to even come up with a moment (or two) to write about, but how fun to sit here and think back on all our amazing memories so far. My happy stories definitely have to be the day each of them were born.

My first made me a mom. It’s crazy how everything changes in an instant and this little tiny thing becomes your whole world. He’s my sweetheart, my goof ball, my smarty pants… he’s my baby boy.

My second gave me a daughter. A mini-me. She’s sweet and beautiful and oh so curious. She keeps us on our toes! This little miracle also gave me my VBAC. I was depressed after my traumatic cesarean and a lot of me was “healed” after this birth.

I think back on both days with a smile on my face–the two days my babies were brought into this world and into my arms. They are my world, they made me Mom, and I love them to the moon (and back to my son’s truck).ย

What’s your happy baby story? They have a good amount on their website and I read through a lot of them–I can’t wait to read more! Your happy stories make me happy ๐Ÿ™‚ So please, support the cause, spread the happiness, and share a story of your own! If you do, please let me know so I can go read it ๐Ÿ™‚

FYI – it’s REALLY easy to share. Just go to Happy Baby Storiesย and click on the big purple “post my story” button in the middle of the page. You need to log in (you can use your facebook account) and then you write your story and you can pay your $1 with a credit card or paypal. Done!

~disclosure: I wrote this post on behalf of the Save Babies Through Screening Foundation. All opinions and photos are my own!
