The first time I saw this simple and delicious treat was at Christmas time years ago. My great friend Jacalyn always made them. Then I started seeing them for fall or halloween treats with candy corn instead of red and green M&Ms.
Well… I went to the store to make these for the fall… I got excited by the cooler weather and our trip to northern Wisconsin… but it seems I was a bit ahead of the game. The grocery store didn’t have any candy corn out yet!!! AHHHHHHHHH!
I was totally bummed, but then decided to try Reese’s Pieces instead. They’re already the perfect colors for fall, right?! And ya know what? Amazing. Way better than what I’d imagine they taste like with candy corn. I mean… you’ve got sweet and salty and you’ve got CHOCOLATE AND PEANUT BUTTER. FTW.
These are soooo easy to make, too. I made this batch in between cooking lunch for Ryan. The most time consuming part is unwrapping all the chocolates, so if you have kids that like to help – perfect!!
What you’ll need:
~bag of pretzels (I use the flat square-shaped ones)
~bag of Hershey’s Hugs
~bag of Reese’s Pieces
How to make them:
~Heat oven to 350 degrees
~Unwrap ALL the Hershey’s Hugs
~Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper
~Cover the cookie sheet with pretzels, place the unwrapped Hugs on top
~Put in the oven for 5 minutes, at most. I checked on mine after a few minutes… you’ll know they’re done because they’ll still have some shape to them, but they’ll look soft and shiny.
~Immediately place Reese’s Pieces on top of each one – I put two on some
Let cool (if you can) and EAT! I’ll warn you that it’s really hard not to eat 20 at a time. ENJOY!
