Dear baby girl,
My little Ro-ro or Roey, my missy miss, and my princess. I can’t believe how fast time is flying by… seven months?! You are just SO BIG. One of my best friends recently had a baby girl, she’s almost a month old now, and she reminds me how little you used to be and how I walked around holding you with one arm. Now I can barely hold you across me with two arms!
At the start of this month you started sitting… very slowly. You could do a tripod-like position with your two hands in front of you, but if you moved one of them, you came tumbling down. Now you can easily sit and even move from a crawl position to sitting… but sometimes you do still tumble (and you actually have a great bruise on your forehead right now because of that!).
Thennn you got close to crawling. You spent a LOT of time on your belly like in the photo below. You soon worked your way up onto your knees and then you spent at least a week just on your hands and knees, rocking back and forth. At your 6-month well baby visit, the doctor was amazed that you’d be crawling well before the typical 9 months.
And then it happened. Mid-September you took off. And by “took off,” I mean inching your way ever so slowly across the floor. You’re actually still pretty slow, haha, for having been crawling for a couple weeks now. It’s just different from Ryan who just decided one day he was going to crawl and he really took off. You bobble here and there, sometimes tip over, but you’re definitely a mover and if I leave you out of sight for too long, you’re on the other side of the room.
You’re talking! You’ve got some sounds down… first it was the m’s and you say “mamamama” – usually when you’re upset. Ya know, when you want your mama! Then you got the b’s for “ba ba ba ba ba.” And now you have the d’s for “da da da!” Some think you don’t know yet what you’re saying, but you certainly do! You cry for mamamama when you’re tired or cranky and the other day you were whining on the floor (I was cleaning) and daddy walked in the room… you immediately turned your whines into “da da da da!” Awww. He loved it
You’re an absolute sweetheart. During the day you take two naps (unless we’re out and about and then you sleep in the car or here and there whenever you can) and you’re a breeze to put down. I set you in your crib, give you a kiss, and I leave… I don’t hear a peep and you sleep for a couple hours.
At night? Different story, haha. You take a bit to fall asleep at night, but that’s okay. You’re in your crib now – for the past week or two – and you are still waking up 2 or 3 times a night. I usually get up and feed you twice (if it’s 4+ hours apart), but if you wake up a 3rd time in the middle (only ~2 hours after a previous feeding), then your daddy comes in to see you. It’s really not bad, but I won’t mind when I can sleep through the night again
You’re my little buddy. We go everywhere together – I don’t know what I’d do without baby carriers! Especially with a toddler, my hands must be free. In the photo above we were just finishing up a volunteer shift at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. You stayed in that carrier the entire 3.5 hours while I passed out flowers. You were a hit and I was told you were their youngest volunteer
One day, you were sooo tired out from partying hard, I walked by you on the playmat and noticed you were sound asleep! Just passed out mid playtime, haha.
You’re about 16.5 pounds and 27.5 inches long. You’re in size 9-12mo clothes and size 2 shoes. You love people and are all smiles when anyone talks to you, you love music and when mama sings, you love the kitties, and you try to put everything you find into your mouth. You’re still exclusively breastfed. We did try some food like banana and potato bites, but you still have that tongue thrust reflex and you weren’t having any of that!
And… your first TOOTH!!! September 23rd is when I noticed it – right before you turned 7 months. As it came in more, you had quite the runny nose and slight fever – I thought you were sick – but pretty sure it was just teething! The other bottom one is almost in, too. YAY!
And Ryan… is smarter and funnier every day. He calls you his friend and when he’s in the right mood (ha) he loves to read you books and show you things. He tries to teach you about his toys and colors and numbers and names of things… it’s so cute. When you wake up from nap time, Ryan sprints for your room to be the first to greet you!
Brother and sister… my baby boy and my baby girl… <3
We love you to the moon and back 9,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 times,
<3 mama and dada
