VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels™ Garage (giveaway)

Ryan (3.5yo) is really into all things cars related and Rebecca (1.5yo) is now starting to play with toys beyond the baby stage. We were recently sent the VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels™ Garage, which is recommended for ages 1 to 5 years, so I was curious to see who would like it more. After playing with it for the past couple of weeks, I’m thrilled that they BOTH love it… and for different reasons.

There’s a lot to this garage, which is why it’s great for a large age range of kids and why it’s wonderful for their imagination. I love listening to Ryan’s stories as he plays with this. If you think the garage is overwhelming (I read other reviews that there was too much noise), just turn it off! Ryan doesn’t mind at all if the garage is off… you can still leave the tow truck (or other Smart Wheels cars) ON and they will still make noise and be activated by the SmartPoint locations!

There are SIX of those SmartPoint locations on this Garage, which respond to the Smart Wheels Tow Truck or other cars you may purchase separately. There’s also a helicopter landing pad and a parking pad just below that, 3 light up keys, a gas station, elevator, spiral ramp, and traffic stop.

Ryan just watched me edit photos for this post and he had to stop me to tell me about the photo… the truck NAPS on top of the helicopter landing pad and just RESTS on the parking pad. Just so ya know 😉 He’s full of imaginative stories about where the tow truck is going and what it’s doing when he plays with this–I love it! When he first played with it, he suddenly announced, “Oh no! My truck needs more gas! There’s no gas station, MOM, where can I get gas?!” THANK GOODNESS I was able to point out the gas station, haha. Phew, crisis averted.

Now, Rebecca (our 18 month old) loves it for the buttons and sounds. She hasn’t hit creative play yet at this age, but is thrilled to learn about cause and effect. She dances to the music, she likes to push the buttons, and figure out where she can put the truck to create more sounds. Now the issue is getting the two of them to play along together, haha.

There are only two (very slight) negatives I noticed about this toy. The tow truck moves down the ramp slowly–he kind of needs some help. That’s fine, I was just expecting the truck to roll right down, you know? Ryan doesn’t seem to notice or care at all. Guess it’s my need for speed! Second, the helicopter pad (that red and yellow stand) doesn’t snap in firmly. This means it falls off when bumped or, ya know, when the 18mo wants to grab it and run away with it just to upset her brother 😉

Overall, the Go! Go! Smart Wheels Garage is awesome. It was our first experience with any of the Smart Wheels toys and I will definitely be checking out the other playsets and getting more of the vehicles to go with the sets! You can buy your own Garage set on Amazon for $29.99!
