I am a Step2 Test Drive Blogger. I received a Step2 kitchen in exchange for my review and opinion. No other compensation was provided.
I’m having so much fun with my kids at their ages right now. Ryan turns 4 in December and Rebecca is 18 months. They’re finally playing together as Rebecca is learning more and exploring everything and Ryan is well into imaginative play. A kitchen is wonderful for creative role-play at Ryan’s age and for developmental skills at Rebecca’s age, like opening and closing, cause and effect (with buttons and sounds), in and out, etc. We were recently sent the Lil’ Chef’s Gourmet Kitchen from Step2 for our review and the kids are thrilled with it.
Hands down, Ryan’s favorite part of this Step2 kitchen is the coffee pot. Like mother, like son! Haha. He watches mama make and drink her coffee every morning and he’s the best little helper EVER so he’s always wanting to make me some. He asks me all day long if he can please make me some coffee, runs down to his Step2 kitchen in our basement, and runs up with a cup for me. “But be careful, mom! Don’t drink it yet, it’s too hot!”
Another favorite of this Step2 kitchen is the stove top! Again, Ryan gets to pretend to be like mom and dad, making meals. But it’s extra fun because of the noises! The knobs click when they turn and the heating pads react to the pots and pans to make boiling and bubbling sounds!
More fun features:
- beeping oven
- ringing phone (this thing makes it all over our house for VERY important phone calls at all hours of the day!)
- microwave
- recycling center with bin and bag
- chalkboard to write on
- clock with moving hands so you can set the time (Ryan does countdowns with it)
- refrigerator with shelf
- two bins to store your food or dishes
- hooks for hanging utensils and hot pad
- upper cabinets with clear doors
- space to store 3 coffee pods
I like the opening in the kitchen above the counter… it’s a cute window to serve food or, if you’re 18 months old, play peek-a-boo, haha. It came with a bunch of food, dishes, cups, the phone, a salt and pepper shaker, hot pads… you’re all set! Ryan likes to fill the fridge and cabinets with a bunch of his other random toys, too… you never know what you’ll find in his refrigerator! “It’s a surprise!”
Ryan busy making important phone calls.
You can get this same Lil’ Chef’s Gourmet Kitchen (in pink) from Toys R Us for $129.99. I asked Ryan for his color preference of a Step2 kitchen and he picked out this pink one; he loves it! Check him out in action:

I’ve totally been eyeing the 60′ umbrella on Step2’s site. The kids accidentally broke the umbrella that went with their picnic table, and rotated to the water table. We need a replacement! But this kitchen would be AWESOME!
