Children’s Sleep: what is your routine? (Zarbee’s Coupon)

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Zarbee’s Naturals. I received product samples and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

With daylight saving time hitting us hard last week (seriously, ugh.), the entire house has had trouble sleeping and getting back on schedule. I actually think our 2-year-old handled it the best. Our 4-year-old just couldn’t get to bed “earlier” and with the time change, that meant he was staying up late and sleeping in. That first Monday? Ryan slept in until 8:20am and we had to leave for school by 8:40, eek! It’s so hard to wake a sleeping babe though!

How did your family make it out of the daylight saving drama? Did it take a few days to adjust? Dr. Zak from Zarbee’s has some great tips on sleep hygiene, winding down before bed, and how many hours of sleep your kids need. There’s even a downloadable dream journal and sleep reward chart—we’re totally using that!

sleep schedule for kids

Last month I wrote about how our whole family is loving the line of natural remedies from Zarbee’s. Needless to say, we especially enjoyed the Zarbee’s Children’s Sleep last week! It has just 1mg of melatonin, the hormone produced naturally by our bodies that’s part of the sleep cycle and promotes restful sleep (for ages 3+). It’s natural, non-habit forming, and won’t lave your kids groggy the next day… super important! It’s a small chewable tablet that’s grape flavored and we have no trouble giving them to Ryan to chew up! He’s 4 years old.

Zarbee’s Children’s Sleep would also be great for other situations where sleep is interrupted, like travel across time zones or just trouble sleeping somewhere new (like a hotel room). When would you use Zarbee’s Children’s Sleep? I bet you wish you had it last week 😉 We’re traveling this week to CO to visit my brother… you bet Zarbee’s Children’s Sleep will be in my bag!

Children's Sleep from Zarbee's

Every bottle of Zarbee’s Children’s Sleep also comes with a brochure with “Nine Steps to a Good Night’s Sleep.” We know consistency is key, right? It can be hard on us, but so worth it in the end when our children are on a great routine. Ryan has reached the age of escaping bedtime—he’s hungry, he’s thirsty, he has to use the bathroom, he’s hot, he’s cold, he doesn’t know what he is! Some of these tips were helpful—creating a sleep-friendly bedroom and eliminating electronics near bedtime. We like to calm down at night with books or our own made-up stories (Ryan is great at telling his own!) and our quiet time is signaled by changing into pajamas. What’s your sleep routine?
