Get Back Into Yoga With Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga

After having a baby, it can be hard to get back into your normal workout routine. It’s important to be cleared for exercise by your doctor or midwife first, but what else should you look out for? The Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga DVD is here to help! In this program, Jennifer More will walk you through the steps for assessing Diastasis Recti and give you an overview of the pelvic floor. It is important to be aware of possible abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti) before starting any exercise program.

It’s easy to make the mistake of pushing yourself too hard during the first few workouts. This can often lead to stopping altogether! Thankfully, this yoga program is designed to set you up for success by helping you ease back into a routine safely and effectively. Be certain to watch the optional introductions before completing each routine for optimal safety.

The DVD is split into different sections with yoga routines in 5, 15, and 30 minute increments. The 5 minute practice is simply devoted to “getting back on your mat”. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is actually set aside some time and get the mat out! After doing the 5 minute practice a few times, you can move onto the 15 minute segment. Once the 15 minute segment has become a regular part of your daily life, they suggest you advance to the 30 minute session. Once you are comfortable practicing the 30 minute session, you should be able to resume your regular 60 minute yoga sessions!

Jennifer More (center) will walk you through each position seamlessly. As you can see in the image above, the woman on the right is doing a slightly different pose–this is because she is doing a modified position for woman who have had cesareans. If you have had a cesarean, you will want to be sure to keep an eye on her! As you go through each pose, Jennifer will remind you to breathe. At the end of each practice, there will be a guided relaxation section–it was my favorite part of the program!

While this program was designed for women with yoga history, it is still perfectly accessible for the beginner as well! Just be sure to listen to your body and follow instructions carefully until you get the hang of it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did–Good luck!
