My name is Emily and my husband, Steve, and I had our first baby on December 27, 2009! Ryan was 7lb 9oz and 20 inches, born at 3:30am (by an unnecessary c-section that I’m still struggling with). After spending 5 years in Iowa for school, we’re now back in our hometown of Rockford, IL, with our 2 very spoiled maine coon mix kitties, Oscar and Aasa. Steve has a BS in Civil (Env) Engineering and I have my MS in Animal Physiology (Ethology). Neither one of us are currently using our degrees, but we are both working! Yep, I’m a WOHM (work outside of the home mom) and am still adjusting.
I use this blog to talk about the jounrey of first-time parents… topics that will hopefully help other first timers too (and maybe a few of those OMG MY BABY IS THE CUTEST BABY IN THE WORLD posts because I just can’t help it 
) I throw in some relevant product reviews and giveaways too, for fun!
Things I like: music, travel, animals, chocolate, lilacs, rainstorms, the ocean, reading, cereal, being barefoot, laughing, twitter, wine, fireplaces, a good cup of coffee.

Emily, you have been in my heart since the very minute you were born. Steve, you nudged your way into my heart through the back door and I am sure happy you did. I cannot even begin to imagine how I will feel the day I become your “Lil d’s” grandpa.
