Rebecca was born on February 26, 2012, at home. Here’s her homebirth VBAC story.
Ryan Tyler was born on December 27, 2009, and I ended up with an unplanned and unnecessary c-section… You can find our entire birth story here:

Love this pic! And just realized my youngest son shares a bday with Ryan!

That is such a wonderful picture. It looks like a special moment was captured as you started your life as a family.

I just wanted to say thank you, I’ve been reading your blog and other pregnancy/parenting blogs out there for a while. I love how open and honest you are about everything you’ve been through, it motivated me to add my own c-section birth story on my blog .

Thank you for sharing! I’m so glad everything ended well and you and Kaleb are happy and healthy! Do you know what was wrong? Why he wasn’t coming out?
And I honestly don’t know much about J-shaped scars, but I know there are support groups for women with “special scars” and advice about VBACs… http://birthaftercesarean.com/?page_id=31 and http://www.facebook.com/pages/Special-Scars-Special-Women/267106676661425

Thanks so much for the link! I’d honestly have to refer back to my notes or ask the hubby. As you can imagine I didn’t retain much information given to me on that day. Kaleb wasn’t in an ideal position at all because of my scoliosis (and other spinal issues), but a natural birth still seemed possible. The issue ended up having to do with my contractions, apparently they were coming on too strong and too fast to allow him to move into the birth canal, instead it was essentially strangling him. My birth was really fast for a first time mom, which apparently runs in the family. My mom had all three kids within about 2 hours of feeling her first contractions, and this is why I was born in an elevator lol.

Three and a half weeks ago we had our son by unplanned c-section as well. We shared the whole, daunting and detailed First Birth Story – Not According to Plan. Although everything was different than expected and overwhelming at the time, we are a stronger family from it and are simply happy to have our baby boy in the world π
