Sensational Memories of Summer

Five hours in the car with my brother… were we fighting or playing games? I can’t even remember that part of it. We probably sat mostly in silence, headphones on our ears, mine blasting some Aerosmith.

We finally get out and stretch. The air is clean and crisp with the deep scent of pine. My dad opens up the cabin and my brother and I run from room to room, throwing our stuff–just like home! A trip to the local grocery

Family memories captured with YesVideo

Life is all about memories, right? We take photos and videos, we write journals and make scrapbooks, and we sit and reminisce and tell stories. I’ve talked a lot about YesVideo here on my blog because I love their memory-making services. They take photographs and video (tapes, files, etc.) and convert them to digital files and DVD, allowing you to watch and share anywhere!

My family has used their services many times with old VHS tapes. We don’t even

Our Holiday MOMents

If you follow me on Facebook, you know I’ve been living in a house of SICK for over a week. We basically missed Christmas and postponed Ryan’s 4th birthday party because of it…. as if this time of year isn’t stressful enough! I feel out of the loop and we’re just starting to climb out of this mess. There seems to be so much pressure during the holidays, but it’s also a time that CAN be filled with amazing

I had a DNA test for genetic health and ancestry

You may have seen me posting on Facebook about this over the past week or 2, but I recently participated in a DNA test for genetic testing on a review campaign with 23andMe. I was intrigued by the idea of simply spitting in a cup, sending it off to a lab, and having tons of answers about my health and ancestry… but at the same time I was terrified. I went back and forth on

Ryan and Rebecca go to the Madison Zoo!

I have so many plans for this summer of fun… just trying to cram everything in before Ryan starts preschool in the fall! Ryan has been to the zoo before… this same Madison zoo, actually. But that was two years ago (wow!) and he definitely doesn’t remember it. He was thrilled to go this time and see the animals in person that we’re always talking and reading about. Rebecca was excited, too, and couldn’t stop

Happy Summer! A Dickey family photo overload!

Hope everyone had a fun and relaxing 4th of July! We usually spend it at the lakehouse, but this year we got the itch for home improvement… and we stayed home all weekend to clean, organize, and paint! Ah, the things that excite you when you get “old,” haha.

We spent the 4th of July at a friend’s pool for a cookout. Ryan and Rebecca made their own festive shirts and were in bed long before the fireworks The picture above is the

Pretty in Pink 1st birthday party

This post is SO ridiculously late, it’s embarrassing. Rebecca is 1 day shy of turning 15 months old and her 1st birthday party was three months ago. Basically, I took about 524302 photos and dreaded the task of 1) editing them and 2) trying to choose what photos to publish. AH! This will probably take me an hour to write because I still haven’t chosen… but at least I’ve edited! The cup is HALF FULL, people. On to Pretty in Pink…

First, you can
