The little things that make my day

I was sitting on the couch with my morning coffee. Ryan walked by whining a little bit… “hmmm… ahhhh… haaaa… hmmmm” and I handed him a cracker. He took it with a look of awe, whispered “cracker” and walked away with the BIGGEST smile on his face. I guess it’s the little things that make his day too 🙂 After a few minutes, he came back (still smiling) and gave me the sign for “milk.” My little baby boy is so big!

Ryan’s birthday Part 2: cake smashing!

On Monday, Ryan’s real birthday, we had a small party with a couple family members. Ryan got some presents and of course, CAKE! At first, Steve started feeding him cake with a fork and I was like–what are you doing? Let him dig in!!! Ryan seems a little nervous to get his hands dirty, but he did pretty well–because it was so yummy! He fed Daddy some cake and then before I could even react, he turned and wiped his hands on my face! And on my clothes! Haha, it was too

2010: my first year as a mom

This year has passed me by faster than any before. I felt like I was taking one day at a time–breastfeeding, raising a son, learning HOW to raise a son–but before I knew it, the year was over. What happened?! I can only imagine that 2011 will go by just as quickly and it has really made me think about how I spend my time. Or how I don’t spend my time.

2010 started with a series of posts about my birth story and my c-sections thoughts and advice post

Baby’s First Christmas!

I only took 935020394 pictures from this Christmas season, sooo…. look on facebook for more of them, haha. We had 3 different family Christmas parties and the 3 of us spent Christmas Day in our matching pajamas 🙂 Ryan did really well with all the events and started to get the hang of ripping paper (even if he just ran off with the paper instead of the toy)! I think he just might be a pro for his birthday party next weekend!

December 18th: a cookin’ baby

December 18th! Why does that date seem so familiar to me? Ahhh, just one short year ago, it was my due date! This time last year I was anxiously awaiting labor and hoping Ryan would arrive before Christmas because I had all his “baby’s 1st Christmas” items ready to go… clothes and pajamas, a bib and hat, a frame, an ornament…. of course my little stinker didn’t like that plan and came 2 days AFTER Christmas instead 😉

I remember that our apartment’s maintenance man (who frequented our apartment, lol) saw me grabbing our

Just one year ago…

I’ve been meaning to write this post for the past week. It’s now December 11th… last year at this time I was hugely pregnant and expecting a baby before Christmas (12.18 due date). I was fighting with doctors over an induction date. I was mourning the loss of my grandpa.

I was driving around the other day and started thinking about the holiday season and going through our first Christmas without my grandpa. And then it hit me… this will be the SECOND Christmas without him. He died

Ryan’s 1st Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! (I know, I’m a little late, but I was waiting on these pictures). We were really excited for it this year–being Ryan’s first!–and couldn’t wait to show him off to all our family. We started out at my parents’ house for our small Thanksgiving and we were supposed to head to Steve’s grandma’s house afterwards for his family’s Thanksgiving.

But Ryan had a fever. A 102 degree fever. When we sat down to eat, he lasted about 3 minutes. He tried one piece of turkey and had a couple
