National Breastfeeding Month!

Nearly five years ago, on August 6, 2011, the month of August was officially declared National Breastfeeding Month by the USBC (United States Breastfeeding Committee). In fact, the first full week of August is recognized across the World as World Breastfeeding Week. To celebrate these wonderful movements that further breastfeeding awareness, I would like to share some wonderful products with you that help make breastfeeding a breeze!

First up, Milkies Milk-Saver! One of the big fears for breastfeeding mamas is spilling/losing such precious milk, no matter the amount! It’s

Undercover Mama Makes Breastfeeding a Breeze!

Have you ever pulled one of your favorite tops out of the closet only to put it right back in because it wasn’t breastfeeding friendly? I sure have! It’s frustrating when you finally fit back into your own clothes and then are unable to really use them. There will always be some tops that are the exception to this rule, but for most of my favorite tops, I found a different way to wear them! Breastfeeding Awareness Month: there’s an app for that

Most of you already know I’m a huge breastfeeding advocate, having nursed our son until he was almost 4 and our daughter until almost 2. I believe that breastfeeding success is largely about SUPPORT so when I discovered an IBCLC that created a helpful breastfeeding app, I had to check it out.

Full-term breastfeeding aside, the benefits of

when to stop breastfeeding?

I’ve been thinking about this topic of full-term breastfeeding for awhile and when I was looking up keywords for another post, the phrase “when to stop breastfeeding” popped up and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. When DO you stop breastfeeding? Well, don’t look at me for an answer. My 3-year-old son is still nursing. I like to joke that my 1-year-old daughter, who is little miss independent and pushes off as soon as she’s done nursing, will self-wean before Ryan…

I’m going to start by explaining my original breastfeeding goals…

Growth Spurts: not a reason to stop breastfeeding

I love Leading Lady and their super comfy nursing bras and tanks–I now own quite a few and wear them often! When they asked me if I’d like to be featured on their “Amy’s Corner” blog (written by Amy Berry, their IBCLC), I jumped at the chance. I love talking breastfeeding–support for new moms is tragically lacking.

This is a topic that has been tugging at me for awhile now and I’ve just needed to find the time to write about it. So PLEASE check out my post over at Leading Lady’s
