Pregnancy week 38: labor watch

*2 weeks to go!*

This baby girl is making fists and my bladder is the punching bag. Oh, and my diaphragm. My ribs. My stomach. Pretty much everything.

She’s about 6.5 lbs and 19.5 inches long.

She’s still head down, but she has rotated. Remember I said she was on the left of my body and she needed to be on the right side, optimally? She tried. When I saw our midwife last Wednesday, baby girl wasn’t quite to the left side, leaving

The name of our baby girl is…

I took this video of Ryan around Thanksgiving and kept forgetting to upload and post it. A lot of people have been asking recently what in the world we’re naming our baby girl so I’m finally getting around to it! I’ve said the name a few times on my personal facebook page and maybe even on Pinterest tags, etc, but haven’t announced it here yet….

And since Ryan is such a proud big brother, I thought I’d let him share the news 🙂 He knows her name well (although he can’t really say the

Pregnancy week 37: full term!

*3 weeks to go!*

FULL TERM! My due date is still 3 weeks away so I know that doesn’t mean a lot, but it gives some peace of mind. This baby girl could be born anytime now with lungs mature enough to likely be just fine. I’ll take the 3 extra weeks though! And seeing how Ryan was 9 days late, I’m figuring I’ll get 4 more weeks with this little one.

Resources say she weighs around 6.5 lbs and is 19-20 inches long.

Pregnancy week 36: home visit with the midwife

**4 weeks to go! Well, 3.5… because this post is a little late ;)**

She’s somewhere around 18.5 inches long and 6 pounds. At my appointment today, my midwife guessed she was 5.5-6 lbs. And YAY we’ve reached the point that I could still have a homebirth if I went into labor now (ya know, assuming all signs are fine)…. because most babies born now do very well. But we still want her to keep cooking–have those lungs mature a bit more!

She’s getting pretty cramped. Usually your uterus fundus

Pregnancy: week 35

*5 weeks left!*

Baby girl is getting pretty squished in there! She’s just over 18 inches long and 5 pounds. These next few weeks are all about gaining weight and estimates get pretty pointless. Baby’s typically weigh anywhere from 6 to 10 pounds, every one is different!

Ryan was 7 lb 9 oz at birth. They say second babies are usually bigger, but girls are also usually smaller than boys… so who knows!

She’s still kicking away–it’s pretty cool now that I

Pregnancy: week 34

*6 weeks left!*

She’s just under 5 pounds (think: cantaloupe!) and is about 18 inches long from head to toe. She’s pretty much a BABY now and would do pretty well outside the womb at this point. But her nervous system and her lungs are continuing to develop so it’s best she stays put for the next 6 weeks!

GREAT NEWS! This baby girl is HEAD DOWN! My midwife confirmed it at my appointment last Tuesday and she showed me how to feel the head… so cool. I

Pregnancy: week 33

*7 weeks left*

It’s 2012! It’s the year of the baby!!! I can no longer say, “ah, the baby isn’t coming till next year.” And yea, that’s a little bit scary!

Baby girl weighs just over 4 pounds (think: pineapple) and is 17 inches long from head to toe. She’s losing her wrinkly old-lady-looking skin and filling out with fat.

A lot of babies are head down at this point and I meet with our midwife this week so I hope she can tell baby girl’s position! But I don’t
