Especially now that I’m married and have children, life insurance sounds like a great next step. Eeek, I guess that means I’m really an adult now?! As if the husband and kids didn’t already tell me that, ha. But am I behind on setting this up???
I only ask because my husband already has life insurance! And I didn’t even know until recently. He’s had it for years–actually, since he was like 17, I think. To me, that seems crazy, but… it also seems really smart. I would hate to have something happen to me (knock on wood!!!) and to leave my family behind with nothing. Especially now that we’re about to buy a new house.
I don’t think age has that much to do with it (although I’ve been told the younger you are when you purchase it, the cheaper it will be), but it’s more about where you are in your life. How many dependents do you have? Do you have a lot of debt?
It sounds to me like now is the perfect time for us to look into life insurance–with baby #2 on the way and the upcoming debt we’re about the encounter with purchasing a new house. I want to make sure my babies are safe and taken care of if anything should happen!
Do you have life insurance and if so, when did you get it?
