How to Cure Cabin Fever with Kids

AHHHHHH!Did ya hear that all the way from my house in IL? I wouldn’t be surprised… it’s my frustration with THIS WINTER. I hate the cold anyway, but this winter has been especially brutal. Days when the city basically goes on lock-down and you aren’t supposed to leave the house. Days when Ryan’s preschool is cancelled (again… and again). Days when it snows so much, we can’t get out of our driveway.

We’re all going a little stir crazy over here! Not just me, but the kids, too. Some days there just isn’t

Easy Chocolate Pecan Pie

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of PAM Cooking Spray.

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is baking! I hate to cook, but I will bake any day… I have strong feelings for anything chocolate 😉 But just because I love it doesn’t mean I’m always great at it; I’ve ruined my share of recipes.

Once, I frosted some dessert bars before they were cool and they got soggy and gross. Of course I’ve left things in the oven too long and burnt them. But the most

Hostess with the mostess!

This post brought to you by Hostess Cakes. All opinions are 100% mine.

I loooove Halloween and everything that comes with it–making fun halloween costumes, decorating the house, doing crafts with the kids, and creating special spooky treats. Growing up, my mom always made pumpkin sugar cookies every year…. a tradition I want to continue with my kids! But I like making fun, new stuff, too… and I blame Pinterest 😉 So many fun ideas on there!

Everyone loves Hostess Cakes, right?! I mean, we grew up on them. They’re

Pumpkin Muffins with a Cream Cheese Filling

Soooooooo good! When fall rolls around I love all things pumpkin! And I’ve been known to eat cream cheese straight from the container with a spoon…. yep. I said it. So combine two of my favorite things?!

They’re pretty easy to make, you just need to plan them a bit in advance because the cream cheese filling needs to be frozen. And next time? MORE TOPPING, nom nom nom.

And to give credit where credit is due… I saw these on pinterest (of course) and

sweet and salty halloween treats

The first time I saw this simple and delicious treat was at Christmas time years ago. My great friend Jacalyn always made them. Then I started seeing them for fall or halloween treats with candy corn instead of red and green M&Ms.

Well… I went to the store to make these for the fall… I got excited by the cooler weather and our trip to northern Wisconsin… but it seems I was a bit ahead of the game. The grocery store didn’t have any candy corn out yet!!! AHHHHHHHHH!

I was totally bummed, but

EASY Oreo Cream Cheese Truffles

These things are like heaven. In my mouth. I’m drooling just looking at my pictures. I first encountered these when I was in graduate school (WHERE had they been all my life?!) when a fellow grad student brought them in for a department party.

Omggggggggoodness, I demanded to know the recipe. And ya know what? These are SO EASY to make that she didn’t even want to tell me, haha. Besides tasting amazing, they look fancy–your party guests will think you slaved over them 🙂

chocolate chip peanut butter cup cookies

I found this recipe on Pinterest (where else), but it makes a massive amount of dough and had some random measurements (like using 1 cup + 2 T of sugar). Maybe it’s just me and the way I bake/cook, but I’m not that exact about anything lol. About a cup works for me! So here’s my take on it… like I said, this makes a LOT of dough (enough for 4-5 dozen cookies). Divide it in half and you’d be fine, unless you’re heading to a party.
