Totally Cool Science Experiments for Kids

These colder months can get rough for a mom of a preschooler and a toddler. When we can’t just run outside or play at the park, we start to go a little stir crazy! We like to (NEED to) fill our days with fun activities and my favorites are the ones that keep the kids entertained while they’re learning. Again, I headed back to the Animal Jam Academy to get some great ideas! I partnered with them to bring you these totally cool science experiments for kids… perfect for the colder months!

Summer Sleepovers: fun ideas for the kids!

Is anyone else constantly singing, “schooooooool’s out for SUMMER, schoooooool’s out for.EVER!” We are now a month into my 4-year-old’s summer vacation and it already feels like forever, haha. Summer is wonderful for a million reasons and I can’t wait to spend it outside and being active with my kids, but summer also comes with its own challenges, like keeping the kids entertained!

With friends and cousins, sleepovers are definitely a thing of the summer! We like to host at our house… our backyard is great for kids and we have an extra bedroom,

a night out for the hubby & wife: offspring concert

The hubby and I don’t get out alone much. Like, at all. Ever. We really need to get better at planning date nights and things… I like to say that it’s because I’m breastfeeding Rebecca, but there isn’t really a reason I can’t pump more often… as long as we can find a babysitter!

Anyway, a few weeks ago we had a GREAT reason to get out alone. OFFSPRING! They are one of my favorite bands of all time. I’ve been listening to them since I was in the 8th

mama’s first night away and a fairly embarrassing video

I can’t remember how old Ryan was when I left him overnight for the first time. I suppose I could go back through my blog posts and figure it out, haha. It may have been when I went to BlogHer10… he would have been just over 7 months old. Although I don’t think that I would have had the FIRST time I left him be for THREE nights in a row, so I must have before that?!

Rebecca was 4 months and 1.5 weeks when I left overnight. That was just the weekend before

Summer fun: we’ve been busy!

Oh my, I cannot believe it’s July. WHERE did this summer go?! I made a huge list of things I wanted to do with the kids this summer and I’ve barely done any of them… maybe hiking the state park an hour away and riding the riverboat were a bit too ambitious lol. But there’s still time! And anyway, we’ve been keeping really busy and have had so much fun. My posts about this stuff have been too few and far between so I’m attempting to catch up right now with a massive photo

Ryan’s special place

When I was little, we always had “Family Night” one night a week. My brother and I would get alone time with our mom or dad–each week we’d switch off who was with who. Sometimes we’d stay in and play games and sometimes we’d go out–to an arcade, park, to dinner, etc. But the COOLEST place ever, was our “special place.” My dad would take us here and as a little kid, I had no idea where we were. But I now know that just down the street from our house, there was nothing
