Doctor appointment: ultrasound news!

Yesterday morning I had my week 30 doctor appointment…

Weight: 138.4 — that’s up 6 pounds from 3 weeks ago. Yep, I like to go above and beyond. When they say gain 1 lb a week, I obviously go for 2. That makes a total weight gain so far of about 22 pounds.

Blood pressure: 110/70. Normal, but I thought it was high because at my last appt it was 92/52! The nurse said it was probably high because she had just told me I needed to have an internal exam (ha).

Urinalysis: all okay

Fetal heart rate: 150s (last time it was in the 130s so I’m glad it has gone back up to “normal!”)

Glucose test results: I PASSED!!! Just barely.. I got a score of 136 and the normal range is 70-139. Thank goodness I scraped by.
Ok, my regular doctor was called in to the hospital for a delivery so I saw a nurse practitioner. I’m sure you all know about my ultrasound/picture dilemma, so here’s the kicker….

The nurse set me up for an ultrasound at my next appointment!!!

No, I didn’t ask. She measured my fundal (uterus) height and being at 30.5 weeks, it should be around 30 cm. It was on the small side, at 28. I’m not worried, but they’re doing the ultrasound to make sure all is okay and to check his position. I believe if they really thought something was wrong, I would have had the ultrasound right then.

Anyway… I had an internal exam to test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. That’s normally done much earlier on, but I thought I had it done while I lived in Iowa (but apparently those records never arrived). That was a pleasant surprise. (not).

Otherwise… the nurse told me to be aware of baby movements (10 in an hour) and expect some contractions, but to call if they become frequent and strong.

This is becoming so real! Not that it hasn’t been, but… ever since I hit week 30, it just really feels like I’m on the home stretch. I also notice quite a few more Braxton-Hicks.

After the appointment, Steve and I signed a lease (got approved) and put down a deposit on a lovely apartment! I’m so excited!! We move November 1st. Life is goooood 🙂

FYI – I’m almost 99% sure that little Mandy was the one creating drama. She’s lame enough to nominate herself on the bump, and I’m sure sitting at home pressing refresh to vote, too. She’s extremely self involved.

That’s awesome! I think they calculated wrong and my REAL due day is the 17th, but I’ve been going with the 18th from the beginning so I’ve just left it that way. Besides, I got a fortune cookie that told me to expect something good on December 16th (how weird is that?!) Checking out your blog now!! Thanks much and CONGRATS to you!!
