Pregnancy Survey

Found this as a myspace survey or something like that…

Your name? Emily

Father’s name? Steve

Are you still with him? Yes, married for 1 year and 7 mo
Were you trying to get pregnant? Not so soon (were not actively trying NOT to get pregnant)
When did you find out? Sunday, April 19th
Were did you find out? At our home in Iowa
How far along were you? 5 weeks
What was your reaction? I cried immediately–shocked, but not…
Who was the first person you told? Steve!
How did you tell the father? I couldn’t wait so I ran to the bedroom and woke him up. Still crying, I showed him the two lines on the preggo stick and he had NO IDEA what I was doing. He was too concerned with why I was crying (probably wondering if he did something wrong, haha).
What was his reaction? I think he was still half asleep and half hungover (it was festival weekend at our college), but he gave me a big hug and was in shocked silence I think
When is your due date? December 18th
Did you have any morning sickness? Nauseous all day long the entire first trimester, but only actually threw up once
Cravings? RAMEN. It was nearly all I could eat the first 2 trimesters! And starbursts. Nothing weird though.
Food Aversions? Meat.. mainly chicken. Not anymore, but for probably the first half. Even the smell was sick, blah.
Worst pregnancy symptoms? heartburn (never had it before), nausea in 1st trimester, sore hips
Other common symptoms you had? leg cramps, fatigue, swollen feet and hands, frequent urination, being HOT all the time, back pain
Funniest pregnancy moment? Greeting a customer at work with my lunch (a chunk of chicken finger) resting on my chest–I didn’t even know it was there until after. And it was a CHUNK.
Favorite pregnancy moment? Feeling him move for the first time! because I wasn’t totally sure that’s what it was so I kept moving around to make the baby move and I was sooo excited!
Worst pregnancy moment? There’s a couple. I moved back to IL before Steve was done with an internship in Iowa so we were apart for a month! It was awful. Also–when the doctor scared the crap out of us by saying my placenta was full term, I was high risk, blahblahblah.
Awkward stranger moment? I don’t have one! I never experienced the random stranger touching my belly or giving me advice. I think it’s because I look like I’m 16 (I’m 24) and people don’t get excited about teenage pregnancies, lol.
How has the father been through this? Steve has been incredible. It’s funny, he was so gentle and worried about everything at the beginning and he’s more laid back now, haha… but still great! And now he walks around trying to babyproof and always says “Won’t the baby catch SIDS from that?” — It makes me laugh. (NOT that SIDS is funny, but that he says the baby will catch it… and don’t worry, he DOES know what SIDS actually is and that the baby can’t actually “catch” it)
Does baby like music? I always tried to get him to move along to music because I live on music. On the way to work everyday I’d blast Kings of Leon, Phil Collins or The Who. But what made him kick most?? That Michael Jackson movie–he kicked through the ENTIRE 2 hours of it!!
Stretch marks? nope. My mom never got any either.
Hardest part of pregnancy? Probably feeling semi-alone. I’m pretty much the first in our group of friends to be pregnant so many times I feel like no one knows what I’m going through and I have no one to talk to about things. With the exception of my mom and my MIL–both have been wonderful! And of course, that’s why I think I became so attached to twitter and the wonderful women on there who have helped me through a TON!
What are your fears? In general, a whole new life. Mainly, spending time with Steve, having alone time, having life fly by us.
What are you most happy about? A family! A baby! It’s gotta be even better than a new kitten, right?! 🙂
Did you want a boy or girl? I knew the whole time it was going to be a boy–I eventually want one of each and am glad the boy is the oldest.
What did the father want boy or girl? Steve thought it was a girl. Mother’s intuition wins 😉
Do you know what your haveing? A boy!
Do you have a name picked out? Ryan Tyler, two names we’ve always liked and they fit well together… Ryan is my brother’s middle name and we have a Tyler in the family (Steve’s cousin). We almost went with Tyler as the first name, but it flows better this way. I really wanted Sven or Swen as the middle name because it’s Norwegian (as are both of us) and basically means “Steve.” But Steve insisted he’d get made fun of way too much for that, haha.
How much weight have you gained? 27 pounds
Have you felt the baby move? Tons!!
Are you keeping the baby? Yes
Do you plan on a natural or medicated birth? natural (fingers crossed)
Are you scared about labor? some days I’m terrified, other days I’m excited
What do you think will be the worst part of labor? the pain!! I’m trying to imagine the worst pain humanly possible and am hoping I’ll then be pleasantly surprised that it’s not SO bad. I mean, it won’t kill me, so…
Have you taken any classes? Preparing for Childbirth (sucked) and Newborn Care (good class)
Who will be in the delivery room? Steve. I’m allowed to have 3 people in at a time, so I’m sure parents and siblings will stop in during labor… but hopefully just Steve is in there for the actual delivery 😉
Are you having the birth videotaped? NO
Do you think you will cry when you see the baby for the first time? Yes. I cry now just thinking about it!
What do you think the fathers reaction to the baby will be? Oh he’ll cry too!
How do you think family and friends will feel? Excited! We’re pretty much the first in our group to be having a baby.

awww man… sucks I can’t relate to pregnancy :(…I’d totally listen tho if you wanna describe it! Also… I wish you didn’t live so far away… I’d do lazy pregnant things with you… movies, baking, hell I’d even clean for you! I wanna come visit. I have more free time than I know what to do with now that student teaching and the season is done. 🙂 Happy Delivery!!!! I’m sure I’ll dream about it.
