Pregnancy: week 19

**yea, yea, I’m way late on this post… kinda like I was last week too, eh? I did write it at 19 weeks (this past weekend), but just took the belly pics today**

The crazy-fast growth of this little GIRL πŸ˜‰ has pretty much stopped at this point… so from here on out, we’re basically just fattening up and growing in size. Right now she’s about 6 inches from head to bottom and weighs about 8.5 ounces.

Hair on her scalp is starting to grow! Well…. we hope. Ryan was a pretty bald baby for quite some time, haha.

Arms and legs are finally in the right proportions with her body so she looks a lot more normal.

Sensory development is expanding… the brain is making special areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision and touch.

compare to week 19 from my last pregnancy

IT’S A GIRL!!! How many different posts can I publish with that announcement? Haha. This would be post #3 πŸ™‚ And now that we know it’s a girl… things feel so much more real. Not because it’s a girl rather than a boy, but just because we know the sex! I have soooo many plans and visions of nurseries and things to make with her name…. SO MUCH TO DO! Can the nesting phase start at 19 weeks? I think it has. But we need to move into a new house first…. ah!

Round ligament pain–hate it. If you aren’t familiar, these are ligaments that come down and support your uterus… and when you move quickly or turn in your sleep or sneeze or cough or do anything!, they hurt. Like someone is stabbing you. The worst is when I sneeze and don’t grab the bottom of my belly quickly enough to support it.

I had an appointment with the midwife today, all is well.

Weight: 118 lb (ek! +11 lb total)
Blood pressure: 102/68
Glucose/Protein: normal
Baby’s heart rate: 158
Fundal height: My uterus seems high (on my belly) because I’m short-waisted… but it measured at 19cm, perfect! (19 weeks=19 cm)

Looking forward to: going to a cabin in Wisconsin for a few days with Ryan and my parents! We leave Friday.

Anyone have homeopathic remedies for headaches and migraines?

Do you have a name picked out and if so, are you going to share it or wait until she is born?

  • OMG I’m so excited for you! I can’t believe how big and adorable you’re belly has gotten since San Diego! Has it been that long already!?

In response to the headache thing…as a long time sufferer of migraines, I can tell you this: peppermint oil works great. Mix a couple drops of PURE essential oil with some olive oil/baby oil etc and rub it on your chest. (It’s not expensive, so try to buy a good quality oil.) Breathe through your nose and out through your mouth, close your eyes and try to relax. May not take the headache away totally, but it REALLY helps. I can’t take migraine medicine while pregnant, so this is what I use – in conjunction with some tylenol. Good luck!

I am definitely going to try this–it sounds wonderful even without a headache, haha. Thank you!

  • An expecting mother requires to care for of her body and keep it healthy for her baby. The best way to keep track of your health is by scheduling an appointment with with your medical doctor regularly. This way, you can determine how many weeks is a pregnancy you’re in and also determine how you can keep up with the abrupt differences you are experiencing.
