Ahh, our first vacation as a family of four! And we opted for the 6 hour car ride… eek! We were a bit nervous about that part, but the driving actually went really well. We stopped only once each way–to nurse Rebecca and stretch–and the kids did amazingly well.
Thankfully we got to test out a Kia Sorento for the trip–we NEVER would have made it with all our stuff in one of our cars. More on the Sorento later π
We stayed in a 3-bedroom cabin on Little St. Germain Lake and my parents and my brother and his girlfriend stayed in another cabin a few down from us. It was so nice to spend time with everyone! And once Ryan realized Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Jeff were just a short walk away, he was constantly talking off, yelling “I’m going to Grandma’s Cabin!” as he ran out the door, haha. Even after we got home Ryan would ask if we could go to Grandma’s Cabin – awww.
We stayed at Serenity Bay Resort in St. Germain, WI. It’s the same place we went last year. We went a little earlier this year so the leaves hadn’t changed much… but a little bit! You can see in the photos above that the resort has a playground–Ryan loves it! They also have shuffleboard, a fire pit, and boats to rent.
I did bring my laptop and checked in once in awhile, but pretty much took the entire week off from blogging and working. It felt wonderful. It was really nice to just relax and kind of ignore hundreds of emails (until I got home, of course… then that pretty much sucked lol).
My dad, my son, and my brother <3
We played board games, we watched TV (yea, TV!!! we dont’ have TV at our house!!), we slept, we relaxed, we went shopping, we saw a lot of deer… it was a great family trip. Steve and I also took the kids to a local zoo, which was one of the best zoos I’ve been to, more pics of that place later!
“Mom, I’m going to climb this tree!!”
Have you ever been to northern Wisconsin? Do you have somewhere you like to visit that’s just peaceful and relaxing? I love going here and we’ll continue to visit as a family tradition, but I think next I’d like one of thoseΒ all inclusive family vacations π I can’t see us going somewhere without the kiddos so that’s the next best thing! Hmm, now to choose where….
It looks like you had a great time! What lovely pictures!! I can’t wait until my son gets a little older so he can enjoy camping as much as we do!

That was a lot of stuff to pack but I can completely relate! We are planning our first road trip with toddler in tow for next summer! I’m not sure our cars are big enough either!

Sounds like it was a lovely time and you have a beautiful family. I think the shore is the closest place I have to relaxing in that way, but I admit to struggling to really find peace and relaxation on a vacation- especially with a kid!
