HGG: iPieces games for the iPad {giveaway}

Welcome to Baby Dickey’s Holiday Gift Guide ’12!

toys

I first discovered the iPieces toys when I was at BlogHer… Pressman Toy was in the expo hall and they were demonstrating some of the iPieces games for the iPad. We have an iPad at home and I always say it’s the best babysitter ever. No, we don’t use it like that all the time, lol, but when we need it Ryan LOVES it. He plays music, reads (listens to) books, counts numbers, plays games…

At BlogHer I got to play with the Fishing Game pictured above at the far left. It was fun… there are little fishing pole pieces and you had to catch fish and put them in your bucket… but there was a bird that would swoop down and steal your fish if you weren’t careful!

There’s also the Game of Goose, Snakes and Ladders, Air Hockey, and Pool (not in the photo above). For our review, we received the Air Hockey game and the Snakes and Ladders game.

I just think this concept is so cool–I love interactive iPad games! I opened these games up as soon as they arrived and played them with Ryan. Rules with him are a little loose (he’s 2.5), haha, but the games were fun and he loves them. When you purchase these games, you just download the corresponding (free) app on the iPad… easy peasy.

With Snakes and Ladders, you get 4 game pieces and 2 ladders. You roll dice on the app and then move your actual pieces and ladders on the board… same as your classic game! Except the snakes in this one hiss and the ladders move 😉

The Air Hockey game includes 2 game pieces (“strikers”) that you use to move a puck around on the app, into your opponents goal. This one took a bit more practice for Ryan to get the hang of it, but he eventually realized you “push” the puck with your iPiece instead of putting your piece directly on top of the puck, haha.

He was refusing to let me take any pictures of him, but I managed to snap this one… which is probably why he doesn’t look too thrilled, lol. Both games say they’re for ages 4 and up, but Ryan is only 2.5 and he loves playing them with me. As a 20-something year old, I can also say I like playing the Air Hockey one with my husband… a little fun competition 😉 I bet the Pool one would be fun for us, too!

All the iPieces can be bought in-store at Barnes and Noble, Toys R Us, K-mart, Radio Shack, Learning Express, and BJ’s Wholesale Club… as well as online at Amazon and Toys R Us. They’re really affordable with prices ranging from about $6 to $13.
