Baby Trend FastBack 3-in-1 car seat giveaway

The Baby Trend FastBack is a 3-in-1 car seat that converts from a forward-facing toddler car seat to a high back booster seat to a backless booster seat. Once your child is able to face forward in your car, this is the only seat you’ll need as it grows with your toddler and holds up to 120 lb and accommodates children up to 57″ (I could almost fit in this thing, haha).

In the photos above you can see the back of the FastBack lowered for your toddler (photo on the left) and raised for a high back. The toddler seat is for kids 22-70 lb (28.5-52″) and remember that the American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends leaving your child rear-facing until at least age 2. The high-back booster (photo on the right) is for kids 30-100 lb (38-57″) and the backless booster (image below) is for kids 40-120 lb (42-57″). I’d use each phase of the car seat to its max height and weight limits for optimal safety.

The car seat has a tether strap for securing the top of the seat to (most) vehicles, a three-position head support with thick layers of foam for superior side impact protection, a soft body insert for a snug fit of the harness on little ones, two positions for the harness buckle to grow with your child, and a three-position recline to fit your vehicle’s seat shape.

This is the FIRST car seat I have encountered with the rigid LATCH connectors. I thought I would LOVE them, but let’s just say they’re something I need to get used to. I though installing the tethered LATCH buckles were a pain, but these were difficult, too. BUT they definitely seem to hold the seat more securely! So that’s a big plus and worth the effort of installation.

I had a difficult time because the space between the car cushions is so tight, these were hard to force in there to the metal LATCH connectors and if you let go of the buttons to extend the LATCH connectors, they retract into the seat… gah! Time to start over 😉 I’m sure I’ll get better at it–or at least request help next time I need to move the seat. You can also install with a seat belt by sliding in through the back of the car seat, buckling it, and locking it.

My little buddy Liam wanted to sit in the big boy seat! This is my friend’s 1-year-old.. he’s a bit too small for the seat just yet, but he wanted to climb right in 🙂 Note: his chest clip is a tad too low, it needs to be at armpit level! This FastBack toddler seat is perfect for Ryan who is 3 years old, weighs just about 30 lb and is around 36″ tall. So happy this seat will grow with him (and then Rebecca)! Here are some more features that I love:

  • the super soft seat cover is removable for easy cleaning (which is helpful because the material seems to attract hair and… kids are messy lol)
  • the FastBack has a cup holder AND a “media holder” <–the things they think of! Mom thought it was for a juice box 😉
  • One-hand push button to adjust both the head support and the Flex-Sides–this means you don’t have to re-thread the harness!!! If you’ve never had to do that, thank your lucky stars, it’s a PAIN IN THE. This feature is my favorite.
  • Solid steel frame, Rigid Energy Management System (REMS), rigid LATCH connectors, and thick layers of EPS foam to make this baby super safe for your baby.

You can buy the FastBack in stores or online at Babies R Us for $179.99. Questions? Baby Trend made a video for you! I’m a visual learner so this is wonderful.
