Sound Spot by Soundfreaq: decorate with sound

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Soundfreaq. I received a Soundfreaq Sound Spot to facilitate my review.

If you’re a frequent Baby Dickey reader, there are some things you probably know about me… I live on coffee, I love animals, I’m a birth fanatic, all I want to do is travel, and I’m a music snob. Music makes everything better… certain songs remind me of certain times. One song can lift spirits. There’s nothing better than blasting music and singing and dancing along (when no one else is watching). And as a music snob, that music better be loud and those speakers better sound amazing.

Soundfreaq is a brand we’re familiar with–we have their Sound Step Recharge–so I know their speakers sound great. When I heard about their new Sound Spot, I had to have it! It’s wireless and portable with bluetooth and a rechargeable battery. I was sent one to review and couldn’t wait to test out the sound!

There are so many things I love about the Sound Spot, I don’t know where to start! First impressions are everything so let’s talk about how pretty it is 🙂 I mean, it’s sleek and stylish and comes in many different fashions (including wood!) so it fits in your home as a decorative piece, not some bulky speaker you have to hide away. We’ve already gotten comments from guests on how cool it looks.

You can choose a background color of white, black, pink, or wood with lots of choices for speaker color. My favorite is definitely the white on wood, but the black on black is nice, too. You can choose a style to match your home or your gift recipient’s favorite color!

This baby is SO EASY to use. If you’re near it, you can simply use the buttons on the top of it. If you’re not, you can use the Soundfreaq Remote App that turns your Apple or Android device into the perfect remote control! Power it on and off, adjust source, volume, and playback.

The Sound Spot also has a line-in for any device with a standard headphone jack and a line-out, so you can connect multiple Sound Spots together for an even louder experience! Just one Sound Spot still has great sound by itself so don’t worry, you don’t NEED more than one! Believe me, this one speaker gets LOUD. Keep it in the bedroom (or your kid’s room–great gift!) or in the family room or kitchen if you’re always listening to music. With the remote app and wireless capabilities, you can play and adjust from anywhere.

So what can you play? With the bluetooth connectivity, you can play anything! You can play music from your own Apple or Android library. You can play music from any app, like Pandora. You can stream from your iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android device, or even your Mac or Windows computer! I like that the volumes are separate, so if you increase the volume on the Sound Spot, it won’t increase the volume on your phone.

One more feature I LOVE: Sound Spot has a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery for up to seven hours of AC-free listening! Not having to buy and replace batteries all the time? Awesome. To charge it, just plug it directly into your computer or any powered USB port. You can even charge your phone with the USB port on the Sound Spot.

Want to hear it? My (almost) 4yo son is constantly grabbing my phone to play music or messing with the Sound Spot, haha. See, so easy a toddler can do it 😉 The sound can get loud and it is crisp and clear (a MUST for me). The thing you’ll miss with this is some bass, but what would you expect with an affordable, portable speaker? It has awesome sound for the price and features.

Sound Spot ($69) is Soundfreaq’s brand-new, award-winning wireless home speaker, which has already received a “Mashable Choice” Award. Most portable speakers are designed for travel so they don’t waste much time on style. Sound Spot is portable, but made to look great in your home.
