Weight loss in 2014 with MinuteClinic

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for CVS/pharmacy MinuteClinic. I received promotional items as a thank you for participating.

I have two main goals in 2014: lose 5-10 pounds and spend more quality time with the family. I have other goals, but they’re all in order to reach these two. They include better meal planning, eating healthier foods, actually using our gym membership, going for runs, walks with the kids, better time management, more organization for work, and set office hours that allow for set family time. Phew! Those TWO simple goals for 2014 ended up sounding like a lot, ha. But that’s what it takes!

I’m sure many of you might have somewhat similar goals. Being healthier seems to be a common theme—I mean, I’m sure we can all make improvements! Something I’ve learned is that it doesn’t hurt to ask for help. If I’m more motivated to hit the gym with a friend, I’ll ask them to go with me or make weekly dates. Or maybe someone to hold me accountable for checking in on my progress!

I’ve been to the MinuteClinic offered at our local CVS store before (for a quick doctor visit) and I’m happy to hear about their new programs for weight loss and smoking cessation. I’ve never been a smoker, but I know plenty of them. I also know a couple that have made one of their 2014 goals to quit smoking. Awesome! It’s disgusting 😛

MinuteClinic is a walk-in service at over 800 CVS/pharmacy stores nationwide. We have one about 2 minutes from our house, which is really handy. We stopped in on Christmas Eve last year when both our kids were sick and turns out they both had ear infections! I’ve been for a quick visit for a cold and it’s such an easy process. You just check in at the kiosk to be seen! Here’s some info if you aren’t familiar with MinuteClinic:

  • You don’t need an appointment, you can just walk in. They have convenient evening and weekend hours, too.
  • They accept most insurance plans (you can get more details for your location on their website).
  • They have over 800 locations in 28 states (and DC).
  • MinuteClinic is staffed by family nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
  • Get wellness screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes.
  • Be seen for year-round family illnesses including strep throat, and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections. Minor wounds, abrasions, skin conditions, and joint sprains are also treated.
  • The Weight Loss program provides ongoing coaching and focuses on healthy eating. It gives you access to the online resource DASH for Health, so you can stay on track between MinuteClinic visits. This program is covered by most insurance plans (call your provider to check).
  • The Smoking Cessation program provides a physician consultation and assessment on nicotine-dependence. You’ll get an individualized plan and education based on your needs and goals. You’ll receive ongoing coaching and support to quit smoking, as well as nicotine replacement recommendations or prescriptions when appropriate. I am recommending this to some friends!

Visit MinuteClinic for more information on everything they offer, to find locations near you, and to check out the weight loss and smoking cessation programs! Good luck to you and your 2014 goals!
