5 ways to celebrate fall

It’s crazy how much I love fall because I’m totally a flip-flop-wearing, beach-loving, summer sunshine kinda girl. But it’s just so…. cozy! I love hoodies and fuzzy blankets, I love warm coffee cups and hot chocolate, I love soups and pumpkin EVERYTHING. So, as we head into October, here are 5 easy & fun tips to celebrate fall.

celebrate fall

The only reason I have not yet fully decorated our home for fall is because the boxes of decor were put underneath lots of other heavy decor boxes (for other seasons and holidays!) and I apparently haven’t nagged my husband enough yet to get them out (only about 4 times so far…. 5th time is the charm?).

get outside Get outside! Unless you live where it’s always warm, pretty soon you won’t want to leave the house. I do hate winter so I enjoy these last days of hoodie-wearing weather! Go to a park or arboretum to see the leaves changing color, visit the pumpkin patch or apple orchard, or take a hayride! We love to simply go to our back yard and play with all the LEAVES! fall decor Decorate! Some of my best decorations might be handmade drawings and paintings done by my toddlers, so you don’t have to go crazy at the store or anything. Shop after season for discounts on things you can use next year. Multi-task with candles (they add to your decor AND they smell like fall). Get cotton spider webs for your windows. Pick pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. halloween crafts Get crafty! As I  mentioned above, use your crafts as decor or–as we seem to like to do–WEAR your crafts! I’m almost out of ideas for this year, but using the kids’ hand- or footprints, we’ve made Ghost t-shirts, Spider t-shirts, Bat t-shirts, and skeletons. Try some Thanksgiving crafts or Halloween crafts. fall scents Pumpkins, pumpkins…! Who doesn’t love the scent of fall?! Plus, lighting a scented candle or melting some wax just makes your house smell yummy, festive, and clean! Even when it’s not clean… fake it till ya make it, that’s what I say 😉 #SmellsClean counts as clean. Some of my favorite fall scents and accessories above… a giant Febreze “pumpkin waffles” candle, Glade pumpkin pie wax melts, and Air Wick sweet vanilla and pumpkins scented oils. pumpkin-muffins-with-cream-cheese Pumpkins everywhere! I told you, pumpkin EVERYTHING! I’m obsessed with all baked pumpkin things. One year I was super ambitious and made these Pumpkin Muffins with a cream cheese filling OMG YUM. Try these Chunky Pumpkin Spice Cookies with cream cheese icing, too. Hmm, I think I have a pumpkin AND cream cheese problem 😉 Light that pumpkin-scented candle to really get those pumpkins everywhere. Disclosure: This post is sponsored by SC Johnson, A Family Company.
