Last week I introduced you to the new MyMixx, My Savings app from Jewel-Osco. It instantly gives you access to current coupons and sales, lets you create your shopping list (and email it), and tracks your receipts and savings. Looooving it! This post was written in partnership with Jewel-Osco.
I like to save money, who doesn’t?! But as a mom of 2, working part-time outside the home, part-time from home, and volunteering or going to the gym frequently, I have. no. time. I just never sit down with the newspaper or an ad and clip coupons. Even if I did, I’ll be the first to admit I’d probably forget to even bring them or use them at the store 80% of the time.
So this MyMixx app? Fantastic. I can scroll through it in minutes, even in the grocery store parking lot before going in. This week my goal was to restock our regular groceries AND find something yummy and healthy I could make for Valentine’s Day… no cookies or loads of sugar in this house!
Since we’re trying to eat healthier, I struggled with what “treats” to make this year. I found a good sale at Jewel-Osco on filet mignon (thanks to MyMixx) so we’ll probably do those for dinner… but to surprise my husband I wanted to bake.
So I’m making his favorite Quinoa Omelette Bites for breakfast and I’m attempting black bean brownies for dessert! I’ll let ya know how they are 😉 Off to Jewel-Osco for some shopping!
First, I checked out my weekly ad for Jewel-Osco on the MyMixx app. I think the flowers are a beautiful idea and there are some cute things (on sale!) I can get for the kids. I added the items to my shopping list.
Then I looked at the current coupons and added some of those. There are quite a few right now that are great for Valentine’s Day!
Finally, I clicked over to my shopping list to make sure it was updated with everything I wanted. Chicken breasts were buy one, get one free–awesome! I added in the quinoa and black beans I need for my Valentine’s recipes, plus things like almond milk, eggs, veggies, and things for the kids.
I realized from last week that once you go to Jewel-Osco and purchase something that was on your MyMixx app shopping list, it’s automatically removed. If you didn’t buy it during that trip, it stays on the list. That’s so handy!
And I couldn’t leave you without a photo of my little grocery store helper 😉
Check out and download the MyMixx, My Savings app (for free!) from Jewel-Osco. And if you’re not into my black bean brownies for Valentine’s Day dessert (hey, I don’t blame ya), look into all the recipes available on the MyMixx app! You can search by ingredient or name and a quick “quinoa” search brought up a TON of recipes I can’t wait to try!
What’s on your Valentine’s Day menu or are you getting out of the house for dinner?
