Work From Home Tax Deductions

*As a LifeLock Ambassador I received a membership & compensation for this post on work from home tax deductions*

This is my third year being self-employed with my blog work and social media management. Taxes can certainly get tricky when you’re self-employed, especially when you’re new to the process. What can you claim? What deductions can you take or, maybe even more importantly, what deductions shouldn’t you take? I’m NO expert, so my first recommendation is to consult a professional on work from home tax deductions!

First of all, when you

What this WAHM has been up to…

When Ryan was a baby I was teaching anatomy and physiology classes at our local college, but I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom now for over a year. I’m incredibly lucky that I’m able to stay home with the two kids while they’re still little. I have an open invitation to teach at the college again when I’m ready, but honestly I don’t know what I’ll end up doing.

I’ve never been good at sitting still… I’m happiest when I’m busy and I like being a hard worker. My passion used to be with the sciences

my top 5 Bloggy Boot Camp Chicago takeaway points

1. Be nice or go home.

2. Own your sh*t.

3. Don’t be cray-cray on facebook.

4. Have more sex. (And now my husband says the money for this conference was well spent 😉 Nice planning, BBC!)

5. @TiffanyRom is pretty.

Okay, really, I learned a TON MORE. Enough to fill 435 blog posts, probably. Enough to keep me busy for ages. It was all very educational and very motivating and inspiring. I can’t wait to implement some of the things I learned… share with you guys… and be doing what

Babywearing, Breastfeeding, & Cloth Diapers–OH MY! Products at ABC

This is my first post about the ABC Kids Expo I attended in Kentucky two weeks ago. There was SO MUCH to see, it was a little overwhelming. There were the brands and people I’ve worked with before that I wanted to meet, finally, face-to-face. There were the products I use and I wanted to meet the brands and tell them how much I love them. There were the new brands I’ve never heard of and the products I’ve never seen that I wanted to learn about. Miles of booths! I naively

So much exciting news!

I’ve been so busy lately… not only getting our house on the market, cleaning for showings (GAH!), and shopping for a new home, but also attempting to stay caught up on blog/writing work, getting ready for ABC, and launching a new website.

Oh, and raising the two little ones. 😉

Well…. after 4 days on the market we had our first showing… a week later they put in an offer… we negotiated… we accepted. Contracts SIGNED. Closing date Nov. 26th.

And wouldn’t ya know that yesterday we walked into the house we want to

a BlogHer12 NYC review

This was my third year at BlogHer, but it seemed so different. It feels like there are hundreds of things I want to tell you… but we’ll save the 24+ hour trip home (thank you, Southwest), my favorite products and gifts, and my tips for another post. Right now I just want to share my pictures and recap what I did in NYC!

The trip out was great–even though I had a 6am flight, got up at 1:40am, and left my house at 2:15am to drive to the airport. It

The First Annual Blogger Baby Shower for a Cause with Baby’s First Test!

This past weekend I was in NYC for BlogHer, the huge annual blogging conference for women (and some men!). It was my third year attending and this year I was lucky enough to be sponsored by an amazing organization, Baby’s First Test. They promote and raise awareness of newborn screenings. This is something near and dear to my heart and I was thrilled to be promoting them and their mission along side my wonderful
