Having a toddler in the house has inspired me (mostly out of necessity) to get the house organized. My little guy enjoys emptying everything, all the time! Every single time I put away something that he’s dumped out, I notice all of the things that we don’t use anymore or that should be in a different space–but I always push it off til another time, thinking it will take forever. It’s crazy how much I love fall because I’m totally a flip-flop-wearing, beach-loving, summer sunshine kinda girl. But it’s just so…. cozy! I love hoodies and fuzzy blankets, I love warm coffee cups and hot chocolate, I love soups and pumpkin EVERYTHING. So, as we head into October, here are 5 easy & fun tips to celebrate fall. The only reason I have not yet fully decorated our home for fall is because the boxes of decor were put underneath lots of other heavy decor boxes (for other seasons and holidays!) and A clean house… what’s that?! We have a bajillion toys (garage sale time!) and two toddlers, which equals one massive mess. Every day. All the time. Keeping a home organized and attractive is a challenge, especially when there are children and those children have lots of toys! Both weekly and seasonal strategies can help create order and an opportunity to spend time with children one-on-one. Here are some tips on getting the kids involved with organizing toys… maybe a “superhero cleaning cape” helps? 😉 Weekly Strategy: Assign each child a bin or Home repairs are not fun. Most of the time they come unexpectedly and can be quite expensive. Suddenly you have this huge bill that you weren’t planning on. We know—our furnace went out on CHRISTMAS EVE last year! Talk about great timing. That was a $4,000 Christmas present to our home, yay! There’s a 68% chance that one of your crucial appliances and home systems will fail in any year.* (Yikes!) Plumbing systems and air conditioners are the most commonly repaired items.* Washer, Water heater, and Refrigerator are the most commonly replaced items.* We have so many spaces in our yard that need gardening work from the previous owners. Empty pots in the front yard, an open garden on the side of the house, a triangular shaped piece in the far end of the backyard…. I never know where to start! But I want our home to look great and I want to enjoy the scenery so here are some tips for the best foliage plants for your garden. Designing a garden that goes beyond blooms with a healthy dose of foliage plants can really add more I love flowers, but have no idea how to plant or care for them. The best I can do is fill a vase with water and stick some fresh cut ones in there to last about…. a week. We’ve moved around a lot since coming back to IL, but we’re now finally in our HOME where our kids will grow up. That means it’s time to decorate and paint and landscape! It’s time for flowers!
