The Food Chain: fun & educational activities for kids

Our 4 (almost 5) year old son is so excited to learn about everything and he really soaks it all in, making it really fun to teach him about the world right now. He’s thrilled to participate in any hands-on activity and we usually learn best by DOING, right? I try to combine different things when teaching (from realizing how I learn best and from previously being a teacher and observing my own students). We read, we draw, we listen, we watch, we do.

Today’s fun and educational lesson is on the food

DIY ladybug rocks & educational fun with insects!

With two toddlers we’re always busy! I mean… THEY’RE busy and I have to try to keep up 😉 The best days are the ones filled with activities we can do together, where I can watch my little ones learn about the world. I’m always looking for new things to do with them!

How to Cure Cabin Fever with Kids

AHHHHHH!Did ya hear that all the way from my house in IL? I wouldn’t be surprised… it’s my frustration with THIS WINTER. I hate the cold anyway, but this winter has been especially brutal. Summer fun: we’ve been busy!

Oh my, I cannot believe it’s July. WHERE did this summer go?! I made a huge list of things I wanted to do with the kids this summer and I’ve barely done any of them… maybe hiking the state park an hour away and riding the riverboat were a bit too ambitious lol. But there’s still time! And anyway, we’ve been keeping really busy and have had so much fun. My posts about this stuff have been too few and far between so I’m attempting to catch up right now with a massive photo

the best place in Rockford for kids

We have the best children’s museum (the Discovery Center) and Ryan loves it there. We easily wipe out 2 hours there and Ryan is exhausted just in time for his nap when we leave–perfect 😉 This place is 2 stories and is for all ages. Ryan likes to explore all it, but of course there are areas for school-aged kids for experiments and things that he doesn’t get yet (he just likes the buttons).

Upstairs there’s a tot-spot for kids under 6 and it’s awesome. It has 2 huge water
