Extended breastfeeding: am I a mom or a bottle?

Ryan is 15 months old and is still breastfeeding. My goal was 1 year. I don’t know what I thought would happen at that point… he’d magically stop? It’d just go away? It’s not so easy.

I’m not saying I want to quit because I don’t. I don’t see how I could! Ryan runs over and either gives me the sign for “milk” or he simply rips my shirt off–really. We’re trying to teach him that this is not okay to do in public haha… so then he just sticks his hand down my

Whoooo! Tax breaks for breastfeeding!

You may have already heard the news (the article I’m citing was published 2 days ago so I’m a little late), but in case you haven’t…. Breast-Feeding Supplies Win Tax Breaks From I.R.S!

This affects purchases made starting in 2010. If you have a flexible spending account, you can use that for breast pumps and other supplies. Otherwise, you can just claim a deduction of the costs of your breastfeeding items (as long as your total unreimbursed medical expenses exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income).

The article talks about a study

Ryan is 10.5 months old and is still breastfed. My original goal was always to make it to one year, but now that it’s *so close* to being here, I can’t imagine stopping yet. I work outside the home part-time (5 days a week) and need to pump while I’m away to keep up my supply and so Ryan can have milk while I’m gone. Recently I was lucky enough to receive the brand new double electric breast pump from Simplisse!

Ah, I don’t even

Breastfeeding another person’s baby?

One of my great friends from college (hey roomie!) recently moved to Australia as an interior designer ((jealous!!!)) and she sent me this article: Mums split over revival of breastfeeding each other’s babies. Feel free to click over and read the whole thing, but here’s the idea:

Women are using the internet to donate breast milk. Okay, I think we’re fairly familiar with that idea. Some people would do it, some people think it’s weird… to each their own. But this article spoke of two women that are actually nursing each
