I had never heard of a “push present” until I was pregnant with Ryan. The tradition has been around for ages–a gift given by the father of the baby to the mother to mark the occasion of having a baby. I know what some of you are thinking–isn’t the baby the gift?! Well of course!!! The push present is not meant to take away from the baby… it’s more of a gift to the mom for her carrying a child for 9+ months and giving birth. Just a little something nice for the dad to give to show appreciation! Hey, I like it.
Typically, the push present is jewelry. As the idea has spread more recently in the United States, it doesn’t have to be just the father that gives the gift, but anyone close to the new mom.
I got a push present from Steve when I was pregnant with Ryan…. he ended up a cesarean birth, so although the term “push present” didn’t really apply for me, the idea is still the same! Let’s just call it a “mama gift.” 🙂 Then I got another one when after Rebecca was born–and she WAS pushed out after 48 hours of labor and 10 hours of pushing so I think I definitely deserved that one 😉 I even got Steve a “dad” push present because he deserved one too.
We hadn’t heard of the Juno Lucina collection when I was pregnant, but I wish we had! They have a line of absolutely gorgeous gold and diamond pieces meant to celebrate this very occasion. Juno Lucina is the Roman goddess of childbirth and the symbol is meant to portray her hands cradling and protecting both mother and child throughout pregnancy and birth.
Beautiful, right? And I absolutely love the symbolism and the feeling of me and my lil babe being protected. The three main collections were created when the founder needed the perfect push present for his own wife and ended up having to settle on something…. he made Juno Lucina so others wouldn’t have to settle. I have to say–he did a darn good job and I told him he has one lucky wife 😉
There are three designs (Signature, Harmony, and Melody) and you can get them in a variety of fashions–pendants, studs, drop earrings, and bracelets. There’s even a Custom Couture service if you’d like any of their collections in a larger total carat weight.
Every gift comes in a luxury gift box… the outer larger one is inscribed with a poem of love and appreciation and the smaller inner box contains your gift. It really is beautiful and very nicely presented. I am lucky enough to have seen it in person!
This pendant is from the Signature Collection and it has 2 round diamonds with a total carat weight of 1/10. The pendant is 14K white gold, but it’s also available in yellow gold, and it comes with an 18″ white (or yellow) gold box chain. It retails for $299 on Juno Lucina’s website.

Is it possible to un-click my entry fro Group D? I clicked it accidentally. While I did follow as many as I could in each group, I have reached my limit on Twitter, and each group had at least 1 I wasn’t able to add.
Thank you!

Push present? Gross.
The term “push present” has only been around since the 1990s.
What a vile term.
Giving a new mother, however, has been a tradition for centuries.
It’s called a “baby bauble,” a term much more polite than “push present.”
